Colorful to expand its Mini-PC offering with Strix Halo
The new SMART 900 Mini-PC was announced today.
Interestingly, this information cannot be found on Colorful’s website, nor is it mentioned by any of their social media accounts. Chinese media outlet Expreview reports that Colorful will launch a new Mini-PC called SMART 900 (the media incorrectly labeled it as SMATR), which is a much more high-end version compared to the previous release.
Colorful’s Mini-PC lineup is not very large, in fact, they only list five models, four of which are Intel-based. The only AMD system features a Ryzen 7 7735HS (SMART 500A), which is a low-end option not even based on the recent Ryzen 200 refresh, let alone the newer Ryzen 300 series with Zen5 architecture.
It looks like Colorful will jump directly to the high-end with the SMART 900 PC, which, according to the report, is a 4-liter system featuring a futuristic design with an aluminum and anodized body. The media claims the system can maintain low operating temperatures and reasonable noise levels under high load, but it’s unclear if this is based on actual testing or just repeated from Colorful’s PR.

More importantly, the system is powered by AMD’s flagship Strix Halo APU: the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, a 16-core Zen5 processor with Radeon 8060S graphics featuring 40 RDNA3.5 Compute Units. This is currently the fastest option available, but it also means there are no lower-tier Halo SKUs, which will clearly impact pricing.
The media also report the PC will be equipped with 96GB LPDDR5X memory, which is unusual since most similar systems offer up to 128GB. Often, the 96GB figure is presented as a “VRAM” specification, useful for AI inference with large language models. So perhaps this was a translation error, and the system has more total memory, with 96GB allocated to VRAM.
