Radeon RX 9070 GRE set to launch in Taiwan

Uniko’s Hardware reports that the Radeon RX 9070 GRE will soon be available in Taiwan. This means the so-called “Great Radeon Edition” will no longer be exclusive to the Chinese market.

The Radeon RX 9070 GRE launched last month, and as expected, AMD did not make any formal announcements for the global market. There was a separate review embargo and sales embargo imposed on Chinese media and retailers, but for gamers elsewhere, there was no teaser or information about a potential international release.

CoolPC has listed the new card as “initially China-exclusive,” but it will soon be available in Taiwan during the 618 (June 18) shopping festival. Reports indicate the card will be sold at MSRP. Currently, only four Sapphire RX 9070 GRE models are expected to launch tomorrow in Taiwan, with no word from other board partners yet.

It’s worth recalling that the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, which was exclusive to China for over six months, was eventually released globally and even received a price cut. The card served as a solid filler between the RX 7900 XT and RX 7800 XT, although its performance was sometimes very close to Navi 32-based models.

The RX 9070 GRE is based on the Navi 31 GPU, which means it has more cores than the recently released RX 9060 XT. It also avoids the limitations of a 128-bit memory bus, which can be a bottleneck in some scenarios. Unlike the 9060 XT, the RX 9070 GRE is only available in one configuration: 12GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit bus.
